VOX V-847A Wah WahPedal

A Good Choice4

This was my first wah pedal which I purchased with some birthday money. It is NOT a true bypass for those who are curious.

When I first plugged into the Vox V847 I noticed the sweep was sharp and quick. There is a spot just past the middle towards the toe where there is a very sudden sharp sweep almost like flicking a switch when the sound changes quickly. While not bad it just doesn't suit my taste for most music except for funk. I love using this wah pedal for Voodoo Chile type sweep rhythms.

Also something else I noticed is that in the heel-down position things are very muddy indistinguishable and almost empty of any tone. When used right this can sound pretty cool but I just can't stay in that position if I want anything I'm playing to be heard by others.

This pedal is great for Rock solos. With some distortion or overdrive the sharp sweep sound great to emphasize bends and notes especially when rocking back and forth to a set of quick notes or a finger tapping section emphasizing certain notes it sounds great. With distortion though it is harder to get a smooth sounding transition from heel to toe. In fact it is even harder.

I recently got a Dunlop 535Q Crybaby and will be modding my old Vox Wah to either sell or add to my studio equipment depending on the new sounds I can get out of it. If you are interested in electronics there are numerous mods out there for this pedal. You can make it true bypass change the sweep range high end low end and low end clarity.

Overall I found this pedal very handy and fun to have when playing as it really adds another element to your sound and is always a crowd pleaser. While I listed many faults to this thing it really works great for the price. I would choose this pedal over the similarly priced crybabies any day. As for recording and gigging the lack of true bypass isn't that noticable and the odd sweep range is fine if your know how to use it. It really kicks out some cool sounds and it ain't that pricey either. Give it a go if you're looking for an affordable Wah Pedal!More detail ...

Vox Joe Satriani Time Machine Delay Pedal

World-renowned guitarist Joe Satriani and VOX collaborated to design the Time Machine dual mode delay pedal. Featuring two delay modes and a Hi-Fi/Lo-Fi switch the Time Machine delivers a wide range of delay sounds and yet remains remarkably easy to use. The time machine provides both modern and vintage delay modes. The modern mode mirrors your original sound with full clarity and fidelity and will fit any style of music. As its name suggests the vintage mode delivers the sound of a classic tape delay unit. A proprietary saturation circuit creates a warm analog sound with a nice sense of distortion. Gentle modulation is also applied in the vintage mode reproducing the slight warbling produced by a tape-based delay. The amazing effectiveness is the result of an uncompromising process of testing and refining carried out by Joe and VOX. Joe wanted to get a sound that blends nicely with the other performers whether you're on stage or in the studio and yet also has some thickness to the tone. The solution was to add a Hi-Fi/Lo-Fi switch to the time machine. The Hi-Fi mode delivers a transparent uncolored sound. The Lo-Fi mode on the other hand provides a distinctive EQ combining both high-pass and low-pass filters. This EQ uses filters that have been precisely adjusted to Joe's taste so that your guitar sound will blend naturally in the mix – without obscuring or interfering with the other players. The time machine is a pedal like no other one that expands your sound-creating potential through a variety practical functions.More detail ...

Vox Joe Satriani Satchurator Distortion Pedal

Perfect pedal for all sounds5

This pedal represents the exact sound that I was looking for in my guitar. What impressed me the most was the fact that I could actually hear the differences as I alter either the tone or the gain settings. That goes a long way to convincing me that the pedal was worth it. Adjusting it to create a bright clean sound creates the bright clean sound I want. Turning up the gain for more byte accomplishes that much as well. All the sounds are here and more controlable than ever. I'm playing the pedal thru a custom guitar (walnut body cocobola neck Jim Wagners Darkburst pickups) and I now have the holy grail of sound. I can't imagine this pedal sounding bad even with stock comercial guitars. I will be running my sound through this all the time.More detail ...
